It's natural diversity was fully recognized in 1978 when it was declared an international biosphere reserve by Unesco. It also is home to two of the world's most majestic geologic formations, Las Torres del Paine and Los Cuernos del Paine.

However the highlight of my journey was traveling into various small villages on the west side of Jamaica to capture the "real Jamaica" and its' culture.

It is estimated that as recently as 1960 there were some five million Humboldt penguins on the west coast of South America. Today there are only about 6000.The Humboldt Penguin Preserve is an amazing stretch of grasslands and coastline near Los Chorros, Chile that is home to this endangered species as they give birth and raise their young in early summer.

I recently spent a week in Western North Carolina moving up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway seeking out peak Fall colors. I found some great color at higher elevations late in the week despite our incredibly dry year.
